New England-based Contemporary Folk duo Neptune’s Car will be performing on Friday, July 17, 2015, at The Saugerties Summer Sunset Series at Waterfront Park. The concert begins at 6:30 pm. Admission is free.
Neptune’s Car (Holly Hanson and Steve Hayes) is an acoustic duo from Massachusetts and New Hampshire who play original, Contemporary Folk music. In January 2015, the duo released their third album, The 45th Parallel. The album was the #2 album on the Folk charts for February 2015 with two songs tied with each other at the #5 spot. In April 2015, the song “Fly Fishing the Big Hole” was honored with an Outstanding Achievement in Songwriting in the Folk/Americana category from The Great American Song Contest. In June, the duo was named a Grassy Hill Emerging Artist and invited to play on the Main Stage at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale, New York.
“Saugerties, New York, is a very special place for us,” says Hanson. “In May 2011, Steve and I stayed at The Saugerties Lighthouse for a couple of days. The experience is documented in the song ‘Saugerties, New York,’ — a love song written for the town on our new album, The 45th Parallel.”
